Un o ganeuon hyfrytaf a thristaf yr iaith. Stori wir am Jane Williams, Ty’n y Caeau, Cynwyd a foddodd ei hun ar y 1af o Awst, 1868, yn 23 mlwydd oed.
The true and heart wrenching story of Jane Williams of Cynwyd, who fell pregnant after being raped, and subsequently became the object of shame and discrimination by the community. She drowned herself in the river Dee at the age of 23. In the song, she stares into the river, envying its fish who can live their lives free from scrutiny and distain. Her body is discovered in the morning with a letter in her hand which reads - ‘Give me an unmarked grave, I don’t want anyone to know where the rejected maiden lies’.
